Closer to town, you'll find the older, established neighborhoods. Higher up, off Curry Street, you'll find several new tracts, including the beautiful 'Heritage Oaks' tracts - both the "East" and the "West" tracts, offering a generous choice of floor plans and lot sizes.
Located approximately 10 minutes from Downtown off Woodford-Tehachapi Road, Golden Hills is a very popular location for builders, buyers, and homeowners. Golden Hills was the original locale for many of the early settlers and continues to offer wonderful hillside and valley views, raw open land, and friendly neighborhood gatherings for all.
The Southern end of Golden Hills, near the commercial district, is where you'll find most rental units and rental homes. Further north, on both the east and west side of Woodford-Tehachapi road, you'll find the golden hills dotted with rural neighborhood homes and with many new construction projects in full swing. Vacant lots are still available here, yet they are selling quickly. There are water and power nearby to most every lot. Most parcels of vacant land offer a variation of mountain views and beautiful oak trees. Golden Hills provides a welcoming slice of Tehachapi and is conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, and the 58 freeway.
Brite Valley & Brite Lake
Brite Valley is one of the most picturesque areas of Tehachapi, and if you’ve always wanted your own little farm, this may be it.
Located approximately 20 minutes west of downtown below Alpine Forest on the north-side along Banducci Road. Brite Valley is a smaller area of approximately 90 acres containing a few active ranches, orchards, and older homes. The area is named after the Brite Family, one of the first families to settle in this area of Tehachapi.
There's a Lake and campground with hook-ups, tent sites, and nearby restrooms and showers. Fishing is available at the lake, as well as picnic areas. Brite Lake is open for fishing on the last Saturday of April each year, and the season continues through the last Sunday of January.
Hart Flat / Keene
Although located at a lower elevation, Hart Flat is definitely part of Tehachapi in many ways but enjoys its own micro-climate with warmer temperatures, generally less wind, and is about 20 minutes from downtown Tehachapi and just over half an hour from downtown Bakersfield.
Sand Canyon is increasingly popular with Real Estate buyers who want to be close enough to town yet far enough away to enjoy horseback riding on their generous parcels of land and to savor the Wild West views.
