Downtown Tehachapi is a mixture of both old and new buildings, homes, warehouses, apartments, parks, an Airport, our High School, Junior High, Hospital, Senior Center, Sherrif's Station, City Hall, a bustling commercial area and various delicious eateries.
Closer to town you'll find the older, established neighborhoods. Higher up, off Curry Street, you'll find several new tracts, including the beautiful 'Heritage Oaks' tracts - both the "East" and the "West" tracts, offering a generous choice of floor plans and lot sizes.
Located approximately 10 minutes from Downtown off of Woodford-Tehachapi Road, Golden Hills is a very popular location for builders, buyers and homeowners. Brite Valley & Brite Lake
Brite Valley is one of the most picturesque areas of Tehachapi and if you’ve always wanted your own little farm, this may be it.
Located approximately 20 minutes west of downtown below Alpine Forest on the north-side along Banducci Road. Brite Valley is a smaller area of approximately 90 acres containing a few active ranches, orchards and mostly older homes. The area is named after the Brite Family, one of the first Families to settle in this area of Tehachapi.
There's a Lake and campground with hook-ups, tent sites and nearby restrooms and showers. Fishing is available at the lake, as well as picnic areas. Brite Lake is open for fishing on the last Saturday of April, each year, and the season continues through the last Sunday of January.
Hart Flat / Keene
Hart Flat, although located at a lower elevation, is definitely part of Tehachapi in many ways, but enjoys its own micro-climate with warmer temperatures, generally less wind and is about 20 minutes from downtown Tehachapi and just over half an hour from downtown Bakersfield.
Sand Canyon is increasingly popular with Real Estate buyers who want to be close enough to town, yet far enough away to enjoy horseback riding on their generous parcels of land and to savor the Wild West views.
Sand Canyon is located about 15 minutes East of Tehachapi's Downtown area, just North of the 58 freeway. As you navigate off the main street onto its' many dirt roads, you'll feel as if you've just entered a rural John Wayne movie set.
